ADUN Pioneer Librarian, Sylvester Ebhonu, Bags National Recognition and Prestigious Award
Admiralty University of Nigeria (ADUN) has celebrated the remarkable achievements of its Pioneer Librarian, Mr. Sylvester Ebhonu, whose professional milestones have earned him both national recognition and prestigious awards.
Admiralty University of Nigeria (ADUN) has celebrated the remarkable achievements of its Pioneer Librarian, Mr. Sylvester Ebhonu, whose professional milestones have earned him both national recognition and prestigious awards.
Mr. Ebhonu was recently elected the National Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Library Association (NLA), the foremost professional body for librarians in Nigeria. In recognition of this achievement, ADUN officially sent him a congratulatory letter, commending his contributions to the profession.
In addition, he successfully implemented the "Wiki in School" project at the Emeritus Professor Augustine Esogbue Library, training more than 15 students and staff on Wikipedia editing and other Wikimedia projects. The initiative, which provided participants with practical digital knowledge, earned him a commendation letter from the university.

On the national stage, Mr. Ebhonu was honored with the prestigious Dr. Victoria Okojie Award for Advocacy and Promotion of Library and Information Services, 2024, presented by the Nigerian Library Association.
According to Makut Alfred Mashat, Public Relations Officer of ADUN, these recognitions not only underscore Mr. Ebhonu’s dedication to excellence but also reflect the university’s commitment to developing professionals who contribute significantly to national discourse. He added that under the visionary leadership of Professor Christopher Bankole Ndubuisi Ogbogbo and the university management, ADUN remains committed to raising leaders among its staff and students.
