The Kogi State University, Kabba (KSUK), Kogi West Senatorial District was established by Kogi State Government with a Charter from the National Universities Commission (NUC), Abuja, on June 26, 2023, as the 62nd State-owned University and 265th University in Nigeria.

The University is to take off with Phase-1, in September 2023, using a compound / hybrid Faculty model consisting of three Faculties, Art and Humanities, Science and Computing, Management, Administration and Social Sciences.

The three faculties will house twenty-five (25) programmes, in seventeen (17) academic departments. There will also be specialized Research and Academic Centres, Learning Resources, and ICT Centres. The Implementation Committee of the Kogi State University, Kabba hereby announces the following staff vacancies in accordance with the provisions of the Universities (Miscellaneous Provision) Act 2001, as amended.

1.0 POSITIONS

1.4 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
In all cases, the ideal candidates are required to possess work ethics, enjoy sound physical and mental health.

1.4.1 Professor: A PhD degree holder with specialization in the discipline applied for with at least 12 years post-qualification University teaching, research experience, 25 publications in high impact reputable journals, half of which must be in international outlets.

  • Evidence of academic and administrative positions held in University to prepare him/her for the position
  • must have mentorship capacity with at least Two completed doctoral candidates and can build an academic team;
  • have a vision, mission and core values that key into that of the University;
  • has both local and international collaborative and partnership network;
  • has attracted substantial research and other grants;
  • have entrepreneurial ability and project design execution in terms of patent. (Salary: CONUASS 7)

1.4.2 Senior Lecturer: Same as Professor, a PhD degree holder in the discipline applied for with at least 6 years post-qualification University teaching, research experience, 15 publications in high impact journal of repute, half of which must be in international outlets;

  • possess appropriate ICT competency in addition to numeracy and literacy;

1.4.3 Lecturer 1: PhD degree in the discipline from a reputable university, with at least 3 years of teaching and research experience, plus evidence of three (3) scholarly publications in high impact journal of repute;

1.4.4 Lecturer II: A PhD degree from a recognized university in relevant disciplines.
The possession of publications will be an added advantage. Possession of appropriate ICT competency in addition to numeracy and literacy (Salary: CONUASS 3)

1.4.5 Assistant Lecturer: A Master’s degree with a PhD grade from a recognized University. Evidence of current registration for a Doctoral programme in the discipline with specialization is desirable.

2.8 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
In all cases, the ideal candidates are required to possess work ethics.

2.8.1 Senior Assistant Registrar II: Candidate must possess a good University degree with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division from a recognized University plus an NYSC Discharge Certificate or Evidence of Exemption with 12 years cognate experience.

  • Membership of recognised professional body such as ANUPA, NIM, IPMN, AUA
  • possession of postgraduate degrees of Master’s /PhD will be added advantage;
  • must have many years post qualification experience in university administration;
  • must currently be an Assistant Registrar for at least three (3) years in a State/Federal University. (Salary: CONTISS 11)

2.8.2 Assistant Registrar: Same as SAR II with nine (9) years cognate experience of which 6 in university administration. Must currently be working in the Junior Staff Establishment / Students Affairs (Salary: CONTISS 9)

2.8.3 Internal Auditor: Candidate must possess a good University degree with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division in Accounting, Finance, Economics or any related discipline from a recognised university plus NYSC Discharge Certificate or Evidence of Exemption.

  • be a registered member or Fellow of any of the following Professional Bodies: ICAN, ICMA, CPA, ACCA, ANAN;
  • be ICT compliant and conversant with current trends in financial reporting – IFRS, IPSAS;
  • have proven knowledge of electronic payment system and the use of Microsoft Office Package, especially Microsoft Excel and other Spreadsheet;
  • have minimum of nine (9) years relevant post-qualification experience in financial management of a University. (Salary: CONTISS 8).

2.8.4 Head Treasury: Candidate must possess a good University degree with a minimum of Second Class Lower in Accounting, Finance, Economics or any related discipline from a recognised university plus NYSC Discharge Certificate or Evidence of Exemption.

  • be a registered member of any of the following Professional Bodies: ICAN, ICMA, CPA, ACCA, ANAN;
  • be ICT compliant and conversant with current trends in financial reporting – IFRS, IPSAS;
  • have minimum of nine (9) years relevant post-qualification experience in financial management of a university with three (3) years as a practising Accountant;
  • have proven knowledge of electronic payment system and use of Microsoft Office Package, especially Microsoft Excel and other Spreadsheet. (Salary: CONTISS 8).

2.8.5 Cashier: Candidate must possess a good University degree with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division in Accounting, Finance, Economics or any related discipline from a recognised university plus NYSC Discharge Certificate or Evidence of Exemption.

  • be ICT compliant and conversant with current trends in financial reporting–FRS, IPSAS;
  • have proven knowledge of electronic payment system and the use of Microsoft Office Package, especially Microsoft Excel and other Spreadsheet. (Salary: CONTISS 7)

2.8.6 Payroll Officer: Candidate must possess a good HND Upper Credit from a recognized Polytechnic in Accounting, Banking and Finance or its equivalent plus NYSC Discharge Certificate or Evidence of Exemption.

  • has work experience related to finance;
  • must be proficient in financial reconciliation of books;
  • be ICT compliant and conversant with current trends in financial reporting – IFRS, IPSAS;
  • possession of additional qualifications registrable with professional bodies will be an added advantage;
  • have proven knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office Package, especially Microsoft Excel and other Spreadsheet. (Salary: CONTISS 7)

2.8.7 Chief Security Officer: The ideal candidate must possess Bachelor’s Degree in the Seconds Class Division in Sociology/ Criminology or relevant field from a recognized University plus NYSC Discharge Certificate or Evidence of Exemption with at least fifteen (15) years cognate experience.

  • Candidate should have received appropriate training and must have several years of relevant experience in the Police or Armed Forces and would have attained the rank not below Major/ Chief Superintendent of Police / Immigration or its equivalent with evidence of retirement. An intelligent or Crime Management background will be an advantage.
  • Candidate must be capable of maintaining and developing the necessary security policing arrangement covering both day and night shifts. (Salary: CONTISS 13)

2.8.8 Security Officer II: Candidate must possess Bachelor’s Degree in the Seconds Class Division plus NYSC Discharge Certificate or Evidence of Exemption in Sociology/ Criminology or relevant field from a recognized university plus NYSC Discharge Certificate or Evidence of Exemption with at least six (6) years cognate experience.

  • Candidate should have received appropriate training and must have several years of relevant experience in the Police or Armed Forces and would have attained the rank not below Captain/ Superintendent of Police / Immigration or its equivalent with evidence of retirement.
  • Evidence of computer literacy is mandate. (Salary: CONTISS 9)

2.8.9 MEDICAL OFFICER: Possess MB, BS / MB,CHB degree from a recognized university registrable with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria plus NYSC Discharge Certificate or Evidence of Exemption and hold the current practicing licence with at least 5 years clinical experience in a similar institution will be an added advantage.

  • Evidence of computer literacy is mandate. (Salary: in line with what is obtainable in University Clinic in Nigeria universities)

2.8.10 PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER: The candidate directly operates under the Vice-Chancellor’s as image maker of the University. Possess Bachelor’s Degree in the Seconds Class Division in Mass Communication from a recognized university plus NYSC Discharge Certificate or Evidence of Exemption with five (5) years cognate experience in the Corporate and Public Affairs Unit preferably in a tertiary institution. Must be a member of a professional body such as IPI. Evidence of computer literacy is mandate. (Salary: CONTISS 8)

2.8.11 MEDICAL / LABORATORY TECHNOLOGISTS: Candidate must possess a good University degree or equivalent with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division in Medical or Laboratory Technology from a recognised institution plus NYSC Discharge Certificate or Evidence of Exemption with six (6) years relevant post-qualification experience in medical or laboratory management of a University and enjoy strong physical and mental health.

  • be a registered member of a Professional Body;
  • be ICT compliant and conversant with current trends in medical or laboratory reporting;
  • have proven knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office Package, especially Microsoft Excel and other Spreadsheet. (Salary: CONTISS 8)

2.8.12 ASSISTANT LIBRARIAN: Candidate must possess a good University degree with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division in Library or Information Science from a recognised University plus an NYSC Discharge Certificate or Evidence of Exemption.

  • must currently be working in a University Library with at least three (3) years cognate experience;
  • Evidence of computer literacy is mandate. (Salary: CONTISS 7)

2.8.13 HIGHER TECHNICAL OFFICER (ESTATE):Candidate must possess at least HND with at least credit in relevant Estate Management from a recognized Polytechnic plus at least three (3) years post-qualification experience. Evidence of computer literacy is mandate. (Salary: CONTISS 7)

2.8.14 MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT: Candidates must possess at least Secondary School Certificate or National Technical Certificate, or equivalent with at least three (3) years post -qualification experience in relevant areas (Mechanical and Electrical) from a recognized institution. Candidates must have Trade Test I-III. Evidence of computer literacy is mandate. (Salary: CONTISS 3)

2.8.15 ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER / ASSISTANT: Candidate must possess a good University degree with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division from a recognised University plus an NYSC Discharge Certificate or Evidence of Exemption.

  • must have three (3) years post qualification experience in university for Administrative Officer (Head of Secret Registry, write memos among other administrative duties);

2.8.16 CONFIDENTIAL SECRETARIES: Candidate must possess at least HND with at least credit in relevant Estate Management from a recognized Polytechnic plus at least three (3) years post-qualification experience. Evidence of computer literacy is mandate. (Salary: CONTISS 7)

2.8.17 SYSTEM ANALYST: Candidate must possess at least ND in Computer Science at Credit level from a recognized institution plus at least three (3) years post-qualification experience. Evidence of computer literacy is mandate. (Salary: CONTISS 5)

2.8.17 CLERICAL OFFICERS: Candidate must possess at least Secondary School Certificate with at least two (2) years post -qualification experience. Evidence of computer literacy is mandate. Duties Receive mails, record outgoing mails and other clerical duties. (Salary: CONTISS 3)

The remuneration and other condition of service for all posts are as applicable in all Nigerian Universities, and as may be determined by the Governing Council of the Kogi State University, Kabba.
