JAMB Impersonation Scandal: Fake Professor Sentenced for Taking Daughter’s Exam
The suspect, identified as Jide Josiah Jisos, was apprehended by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) during the 2019 UTME at Brix Academy in Abuja.
A man falsely presenting himself as a “professor” has been sentenced to six months in prison after attempting to take the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) on behalf of his daughter. The suspect, identified as Jide Josiah Jisos, was apprehended by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) during the 2019 UTME at Brix Academy in Abuja.
According to JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin, Jisos claimed to represent a non-governmental organization (NGO) and attempted to gain access to the examination hall under this guise. However, his story unraveled after a JAMB official questioned him, leading to the discovery of his real motive—to take the exam for his daughter. JAMB officials immediately handed him over to security personnel, and under further questioning, Jisos admitted to the impersonation.
The sentencing, handed down by Justice Folashade Oyekan of the Chief Magistrate Court in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, resulted in a six-month prison term for Jisos, with an option to pay a N100,000 fine.
The JAMB spokesperson emphasized that this ruling highlights the Board's commitment to maintaining integrity in its assessment processes, adding that JAMB remains vigilant against any attempts to compromise the examination's fairness.
