The Vice Chancellor of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu Alike Ikwo (AE-FUNAI) in Ebonyi State, Prof Sunday Elom, delivered a stern warning to the 5,139 fresh students matriculating into the institution for the 2023/24 academic session. In his address during the matriculation ceremony, Prof Elom emphasized the university's zero-tolerance policy towards social vices such as cultism and prostitution.

"Your primary purpose here is to study. Therefore, I implore you to steer clear of distractions that could impede your academic journey," Prof Elom stated unequivocally. He stressed the administration's firm stance against cultism, examination malpractice, drug abuse, campus prostitution, and other forms of misconduct. Emphasizing the gravity of these offenses, he warned of severe repercussions, including rustication or outright expulsion.

The Vice Chancellor underscored his commitment to ensuring the students' success and encouraged them to report any instances of sexual abuse, intimidation, or extortion from staff.
