Ahmadu Bello University Commends Division of Agricultural Colleges for Tree Seedlings Donation

The Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Prof. Kabiru Bala, has expressed his gratitude to the Division of Agricultural Colleges (DAC) for its generous donation of 600 tree seedlings to the University's Standing Committee on Tree Planting.

The donation, comprising 400 cashew and 200 neem seedlings, was made to mark this year's World Environmental Day.

In a letter dated August 21, 2024, the Vice-Chancellor acknowledged the timely contribution, stating that it would significantly enhance the university's efforts to promote environmental sustainability within the institution and surrounding communities.

The university organized a World Environmental Day Symposium/Tree Planting Campaign on August 14, 2024, featuring a lead speaker, Prof. E.O. Iguisi, who spoke on "Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience." The event also included a drama presentation, talks by clerics on the importance of trees from Christian and Islamic perspectives, and a tree-planting ceremony.

The Vice-Chancellor commended the DAC for its partnership in promoting environmental protection and sustainability, looking forward to continued collaboration in future endeavors.
