Ahmadu Bello University Students Representative Council Warns Against Illegal Sales of Bedspaces
The Ahmadu Bello University Students Representative Council (ABUSRC) has issued a warning to all undergraduate students against the illegal sales of bedspaces on campus.
The council, under the leadership of Comr Nazeer Ibrahim Kallah, has cautioned students against engaging in this fraudulent activity, which is contrary to university regulations.
The warning comes as the university prepares to open its undergraduate accommodation portal on January 3, 2025. The portal is intended for students who wish to stay in school-provided accommodation or lack the financial means to stay off-campus.
The Students' Affairs Division has repeatedly warned students against buying and selling bedspaces, emphasizing that such transactions are illegal and attract severe sanctions, including seizure of the bedspace and semester-long rustication.
The ABUSRC has directed all Hall Governors and Hall Representatives to monitor student activities in their respective hostels and report any suspected fraudulent acts to the executives.
The university management has also warned students to adhere to their matriculation oath and refrain from engaging in fraudulent activities. Personnel from the Security Division, Students Affairs Division, and IAIICT have been mandated to monitor and take disciplinary action against students found violating hostel residency regulations.
