Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), Oyo, has recorded a significant improvement in the latest Webometrics ranking for July 2026, attaining its highest global position in recent years.

In the July 2026 ranking, ACU was placed 6,215th among more than 32,000 universities worldwide, representing a major improvement from its 12,536th global position in January 2026.
The university also climbed to 61st among Nigerian universities, up from 114th position in January 2026. Across Africa, ACU rose to 317th position from its previous ranking of 520th.
The university’s performance was driven by strong results across key ranking metrics.
ACU ranked 2,866th globally in the Impact Rank, reflecting the influence of its research output, while it placed 2,231st in the Excellence Rank, indicating its performance in academic excellence.
The latest ranking represents a significant recovery for the university following a gradual decline from its previous peak in 2021.
The July 2026 ranking shows an improvement of more than 6,300 positions compared with the same period in 2025, when ACU was ranked 13,810th globally. The January 2026 edition had already marked a substantial recovery from the university’s positions in 2025.
Reacting to the latest ranking, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ebunoluwa Oduwole, described the result as a clear indication of the university’s renewed focus on improving its global visibility, research output and academic excellence.
She also appreciated the university’s Governing Council, under the leadership of Dr. Olutoyin Okeowo, for providing an enabling environment for the institution to thrive.

Prof. Oduwole extended her appreciation to the management team and all academic and non-teaching staff for their continued efforts towards advancing ACU’s development.
She described the achievement as a “collective effort” involving all stakeholders and charged staff members not to rest on their laurels.
The Vice-Chancellor added that the improved global position suggests a stronger commitment to reclaiming and surpassing ACU’s historical best.
