The event is expected to bring together members of the academic community, researchers, and stakeholders for a scholarly engagement focused on knowledge systems and librarianship.
According to the university, the lecture will hold at 2:00 p.m. at the 500-Seater New Senate Chambers, Main Campus, Ikot Akpaden, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor OtoAbasi E. Akpan, extended the invitation to members of the public and academic community, noting that the programme forms part of the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and intellectual discourse.
The inaugural lecture will be delivered by Professor Nse E. Akwang, Professor of Library and Information Science, who will speak on the topic “Breaking Forth into Knowledge Independence: Librarianship as the ‘Magic Bullet’.”

The event will also feature the presentation of a book titled “Crystallising Emerging Technologies, Trends and Perspectives in Librarianship: A Book of Readings in Honour of Professor Nse Emmanuel Akwang.”
The university stated that the lecture aims to deepen discussions on the evolving role of librarianship in knowledge production, digital transformation, and information access in higher education.
The Registrar and Secretary to the Senate, Dr Ebi G. Eno-Ibanga, will serve as RSVP contact for the event.
The institution encouraged participation from stakeholders, emphasizing that the lecture represents an important contribution to academic scholarship within the university system.
