Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) Admits 3,236 in Their 14th Matriculation Ceremony

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nse U. Essien disclosed this Friday, March 3, 2024 during the 14th matriculation ceremony held at the University Sports Ground, Main Campus, Ikot Akpaden, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area.
The Vice-Chancellor, on behalf of the Governing Council, Senate, and the entire University Community, congratulated and formally welcomed the 2023/2024 matriculating students to the citadel of learning. He specifically thanked the parents and guardians, despite the present economic realities in the country, for encouraging their wards to gain knowledge.
He advised the students to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the University and build a good career that will be relevant in the society at large.

He further stated that in the recent country ranking, Akwa Ibom State University is the 17th best, 4th among State Universities, and 2nd best in the South-South, which according to the Vice-Chancellor, is no mean feat.
He further warned the students against vices such as cultism, examination misconduct, and indecent dressing. He stressed the need for students to take their academic pursuits seriously and adhere strictly to instructions and regulations. According to the Vice-Chancellor, a total of 3,236 students drawn from 8 Faculties and 36 Pioneer students from the School of Continuing Education matriculated.
In her speech, the Commissioner of Education, Mrs. Idongesit Etiebet, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Mrs. Rose Bassey, thanked the University Management and congratulated the students for gaining admission into the University.
She stated that the Visitor to the University, Pastor Umo Eno, has paid Bursary to indigenous students, supported disabled students, and graciously directed the construction of a 400-capacity bed space hostel in Akwa Ibom State University.
High point of the ceremony was the Oath taking administered by the Registrar of the Institution, Dr. Ebi G. Eno-Ibanga, FNIM.

Present during the ceremony were Principal Officers of the University; members of Senate and Congregation; Government Officials; Parents and Guardians; Media Organisations; friends; well-wishers and members of the public.
