NCDMB Meets With AKSU Management On Exit Reports Of Oriental Energy Resources Limited

Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) met with Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) Management on exit reports of Oriental Energy Resources Limited Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at the Main Campus, Ikot Akpaden, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area.

In his opening remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nse U. Essien welcomed and thanked the team members from NCDMB and Oriental Energy Resources Limited for the timely completion of the task that was given to them about 2 years ago. Prof. Essien expressed gratitude to the Local Content Monitoring Board for being focused and training AKSU students and staff on capacity building. "We are serious about giving solutions to carbon problems around our environment" he stated. The Vice-Chancellor expressed satisfaction with handling of the project by the Director of AKSU Consult, Dr. Thomas Harry, who is the Coordinator of the team from Akwa Ibom State University.

 

The team lead from NCDMB, Mr C. B. Zurasi, thanked Oriental Energy Resources Limited for a good job executed and for the capacity built through research. According to him, the NCDMB acts as local content creator to bridge the gap with expatriates. "It is valued in terms of capacity development especially with the students," he said.

In his speech, the team lead, Oriental Energy Resources Limited, Mr. Kabir Ganaji, appreciated the achievements of the University for successfully completing the research work started about 2 years ago. According to him, "the importance of research cannot be overemphasised and this will mark the beginning of another research".

Mr. Alibe Mohammed, a member of the of the team, expressed satisfaction with the level of achievement and said that the essence of the Board (NCDMB) is to protect local content and patency from Nigeria to avoid exportation. He further posited that 100% of the project was locally sourced and has benefited the students and the entire society.

The project Coordinator, Dr. Thomas Harry took the team members through a session of safety and advised on the need to be safety conscious. He applauded the NCDMB for its diligence and focus throughout the duration of the research.

He noted that the project has impacted immensely on the students because, so far, 2 Ph.D's, 4 M.Sc's and 6 B.Sc's have been trained through the project. He made a PowerPoint presentation on the topic 'DITCH CUTTING ANALYSIS IN FORMATION EVALUATION "OKWOK" FIELD SOUTH EAST NIGER DELTA, NIGERIA'.

A brief presentation was also done by Mr. Camillus E. Etim, an M.Sc student, solely sponsored by Oriental Energy Resources Limited.

 

In his closing remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, thanked the team for choosing Akwa Ibom State University for the project. He further said that such collaboration was necessary in the areas of Engineering and Sciences as all the programmes have full accreditation.

Eno-Ibanga, FNIM; the University Librarian, Dr. Nse Akwang; Principal Assistant Registrar and Head of Administration, Vice-Chancellor's Office, Mr. Akaninyene Ibanga; Head, Directorate of information, Public Relations and Protocol, Mr. Gabriel Otu; Head, Directorate of General Administration, Mr. kufre Idiok; staff from Directorates of information, Public Relations and Protocol and General Administration. From NCDMB and Oriental Energy Resources Limited were Mr. Uwem Bassey and Mrs. Halima Habib respectively.
