A significant development has occurred within the Students' Union Government of Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU), as the Vice President, Comrade Goodnews Ndiok, assumes the role of Acting President. This change follows the suspension of the Students' Union President, Comrade Elijah Ekanem, with immediate effect.

The Dean of Students' Affairs, Dr. Dominic Ekpo, signed an official letter dated October 2, 2025, stating that prior efforts to address the matter with Mr. Ekanem were met with resistance. The matter has been referred to the Students' Disciplinary Committee for further investigation.
