Al-Istiqama University Delegation Visits Egyptian Embassy to Activate Landmark Al-Azhar Partnership

A high-level delegation from Al-Istiqama University, Sumaila, led by it's Vice Chancellor Professor Abdulhadi Sale Kumurya, paid a courtesy visit to the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Abuja to strengthen academic collaboration and seek the implementation of the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Al-Azhar University, Cairo, and Al-Istiqama University, Sumaila.

The visit underscores Al-Istiqama University’s commitment to internationalization, academic excellence, and inclusive education in line with global best practices.

In his Remark, the Ambassador of Egypt to Nigeria His Excellency Muhammad Fouad and his deputy delighted to receive the AUSU delegation, here at the Embassy of Egypt in Abuja.

Stated that, 'Egypt and Nigeria share longstanding educational and cultural ties, and Al-Azhar University remains committed to advancing knowledge, promoting peace, and strengthening cooperation with institutions across Africa.

Acordingly, we have taken note of your request for the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Al-Azhar and Al-Istiqama University, Sumaila. The areas of collaboration you presented — particularly the teaching of Arabic Sign Language, Braille Qur’an, and Arabic for non-speakers — align with our shared values of inclusion and access to education, he says.

The Embassy will transmit your proposals to Al-Azhar University and the relevant authorities in Cairo for necessary action.

Members of the delegation included: Prof. Abdulhadi Sale Kumurya — Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Kabiru Musa Alhaji — Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Usman Yakubu – Registrar, Hassan Abdurrahman – Academic Secretary, Ambassador Bashir Ibrahim Ma'aji - Deputy Director (Protocol) Office of the State Chief Protocol, also attended.
