"I See Humanity, Not Tribe or Religion," FUL VC Tells AREWA Forum
The Vice Chancellor of Federal University Lokoja, Professor Gbenga Solomon Ibileye, has called for unity, loyalty, and shared commitment among staff, declaring that he sees people beyond ethnic, cultural, or religious differences as members of one university family.
Professor Ibileye made the remarks on Friday, April 24, 2026, when the FUL AREWA Forum paid him a courtesy visit to congratulate him on his emergence as the 4th substantive Vice Chancellor of the institution.
Speaking during the visit, Chairman of the forum, Professor Ayok Jeremiah, said the delegation came to formally congratulate the Vice Chancellor on his appointment and to reaffirm the forum’s support for the university administration.
He assured the Vice Chancellor of the forum’s cooperation, loyalty, and commitment to the progress of the institution, adding that members of the AREWA Forum would continue to contribute positively to the growth and stability of the university.
Responding, Professor Ibileye expressed gratitude for the visit and described his emergence as Vice Chancellor as an act of divine grace.
“There is nothing anyone can receive unless God gives it,” he said, while urging members of the forum to sustain the spirit of unity and goodwill they had shown.
He noted that recognition and praise should serve as motivation to continue doing what is right for the institution, stressing that his administration remains focused on impact, value, and meaningful progress for Federal University Lokoja.

The Vice Chancellor said he remains committed to building an inclusive environment where everyone is treated fairly and given equal opportunity.
“All I see is human beings who populate this space. I do not see culture, tribe, or religion. We must continue to work together as people chosen for a generational transformation project,” he said.
