UNN Graduate Emmanuel Eze Bags First Class In Mechanical Engineering After Journey Of Struggle

Emmanuel Eze has graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering with First Class Honours from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN.

Eze described his journey as one of struggle and triumph, saying that no single photograph or write-up could fully capture the highs and lows behind his success.

Reflecting on his path, Eze recalled that in the 2019/2020 academic session he could barely afford his entrance fee. By the 2023/2024 academic session, he had become a beneficiary of four undergraduate scholarships.

They include the Jim Ovia Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship, UNN USA Alumni Scholarship, and MTN Foundation Scholarship.

He noted that there were moments when he had no logical explanation for how he overcame certain hurdles, except for the grace of God.

Eze said behind the First Class were moments of doubt, days when quitting seemed easier, and times when he had to find the strength to encourage himself and keep going.

He expressed gratitude for the sacrifices made by the people who believed in him and, most importantly, those who refused to let him quit.

“From struggling to pay my entrance fee to graduating as a First Class Mechanical Engineering graduate and a four-time scholarship beneficiary, my story is a powerful reminder that where you start does not determine where you will finish,” he said.

His achievement has drawn commendations as a testament to resilience, faith, and the impact of support systems in education.
