KWASU Faculty of Arts Celebrates Historic Promotion of Four New Professors

On Tuesday, April 28, 2026, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Professor Abdus-Sami'i Imam Arikewuyo, feted the 4 newly promoted professors in that faculty at a lunch in the boardroom of the faculty.

In his remarks, the Dean noted that the 2025 promotion exercise produced the largest number of professors in the faculty so far, stressing that the elevation of 4 professors has boosted the status and grounding of the departments within the Faculty.

He added that the event was an initiative to celebrate the new professors' elevation, a tradition his leadership was introducing, charging the honorees to live up to the standard demanded of professors not only in the discharge of their duties but also in their comportment.

Senior professors who also spoke at the event emphasised the need for the new professors to mentor younger colleagues and uphold their professorial status not with arrogance but with humility, impact, and service.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Professor Moshood Mahmood Jimba, on his part, stressed that their elevation was a call to service as the university looked forward to their increased participation in activities that promote scholarship and the institution.

The honorees in their separate responses appreciated the Governing Council and Management of the University for completing the process in a timely and fair manner, equally lauding the roles played by senior professors and other colleagues during the promotion exercise.

Students of the Department of Performing Arts and Film Studies gave a dance presentation that enlivened the event.

The honorees include Professor Tajudeen Yusuf of the Department of Arabic and French; Professor Saeedat Bolajoko Aliyu and Professor Reuben Kehinde Akano both of the Department of English; and Professor Ayoola Oladunke Aransi of the Department of Linguistics and Nigerian Languages.
