BUK Lecturer Wins N2 Million Colgate Research Award as Student Earns National Recognition

A lecturer at Bayero University, Kano, Dr. Oluwole Aborisade, has won the prestigious N2 million Colgate Research Award after emerging overall winner in the researchers' category at the 2026 International Association for Dental, Oral and Craniofacial Research (IADR), Nigerian Division Scientific Conference and Research Competition.

The conference, held at Barcelona Hotels, Abuja, from September 29 to 30, 2026, brought together leading dental researchers, academics and students from across Nigeria to showcase innovative research in dentistry and oral health.

Dr. Aborisade, who is the Head of the Department of Oral Diagnostic Sciences, Faculty of Dentistry, Bayero University, Kano, secured the top prize in the doctors' category, earning the highly coveted Colgate Research Award and its accompanying N2 million cash prize in recognition of the quality and impact of his research.

In another outstanding achievement for the University, Bello Ghali Bello, a 500-level Dentistry student at Bayero University, emerged as the second-best participant in the students' category. He received the Feyi Sara Cleft Research Award 2026, further highlighting the University's growing reputation for excellence in dental education and research.
