ASUU Denies 21-Day Strike Notice Rumors

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has refuted claims circulating online that it has issued a 21-day strike notice to the Federal Government of Nigeria. The reports suggested that ASUU had planned a nationwide strike due to the non-implementation of previous agreements with the government.

These rumors emerged following a meeting of ASUU’s National Executive Council (NEC) at the University of Ibadan, Oyo State. However according to the Daily Post, ASUU President Emmanuel Osodeke has dismissed these claims as mere “social media talk.” He clarified that any official action by the union would be formally announced to the public.
