ATBU Graduate Emerges Overall Winner at Young Engineers Innovation Competition 2023

Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) alumnus, Rabiu Usman Shehu, B.Eng. Electrical and Electronics Engineering, proudly claims victory as the overall winner at the prestigious Young Engineers Innovation Competition 2023 held at the International Conference Center, Abuja.

His groundbreaking project, titled “Microcontroller based timing belt failure detection system with audio feedback for modern vehicles,” stands as a testament to innovation in automotive safety.

The project focuses on a microcontroller-based system designed to detect potential timing belt failures in modern vehicles. By employing an array of sensors and a microcontroller (ATMEGA 328), Rabiu and his team crafted a real-time monitoring and analysis mechanism. This innovative solution aims to prevent catastrophic engine damage by alerting drivers promptly in case of belt irregularities, ensuring timely action to avert major failures.
