The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) community witnessed a significant environmental milestone today as the "Keep ATBU Clean" initiative drew massive participation from both the student body and top university management.

The program, spearheaded by the Student Union Government (SUG), focused on promoting a sustainable and hygienic learning environment across the campus.

In a notable show of support for student welfare, the Vice Chancellor, along with the Registrar, the Dean of Student Affairs, and the Directors of Works and Physical Planning Unit (PPU), were physically present to participate in the exercise. This high-level attendance underscored the administration's commitment to campus aesthetics and institutional health standards.

The Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency (BASEPA) played a pivotal role in the success of the event, providing the necessary logistics and expertise for waste management. SUG President Shariff Abdulmalik Toro lauded the agency's timely intervention, noting that such collaborations are essential for maintaining a "cleaner and healthier environment for everyone."

Addressing the students, President Toro emphasized that sanitation should be a daily habit rather than a one-off event. In a message blending professional urgency with student-friendly language, he urged his peers to utilize provided bins and take pride in their surroundings.

"Let’s make cleanliness a lifestyle. A dirty environment kills the vibe—and trust me, you’ll lose your steeze," Toro remarked, encouraging students to keep ATBU "clean, green, and proud."

The exercise concluded with a pledge from the university management to continue providing the necessary infrastructure to support sustainable waste disposal practices on campus.
