Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) has been ranked the second-best university in Nigeria for engineering in the 2026 edition of the Scimago Institutions Ranking, as reported by StatiSense.

The ranking evaluates universities based on research performance, innovation output, and societal impact, placing ATBU ahead of several prominent institutions nationwide. Ladoke Akintola University of Technology claimed the top spot, while Covenant University secured third place.

Other universities featured among Nigeria’s top engineering institutions include University of Lagos, Ahmadu Bello University, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Bowen University, University of Calabar, University of Ilorin, Landmark University, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, and University of Benin.
