Bayero University Kano (BUK) successfully concluded its 2026 Students’ Union Government (SUG) elections, held entirely online on January 22, 2026.

The elections were widely acclaimed for being free, fair, and transparent, recording a total of 8,577 votes across various executive positions.

The Independent Electoral Committee (IEC) Chairman, Anwar Usman Hassan, announced the following results for the SUG executive:

In addition to the executive team, 108 Faculty and Departmental Senators and Hall Representatives were elected, ensuring broad student representation across the university.

The university management, including Vice-Chancellor Professor Haruna Musa and Dean of Student Affairs Professor Ridwan Mukhtar Bunza, congratulated the new leaders and commended all students for their peaceful, disciplined, and mature conduct throughout the electoral process.

The new SUG leadership is expected to serve as a voice for the student body, promoting welfare, academic engagement, and campus development in the 2026 session.
