The Admiralty University of Nigeria (ADUN) has formally inducted 769 newly admitted students at its 8th Matriculation Ceremony, held on Friday at the Dele Ezeoba Multipurpose Hall, Ibusa, Delta State.

The ceremony marked the official entry of the fresh students—popularly referred to as “Admirables”—into the university’s academic community. Proceedings were led by the Registrar, Commodore M. Mankilik (rtd), who administered the matriculation oath, formally committing the students to the rules, values, and academic standards of the institution.
Delivering the matriculation address, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor CBN Ogbogbo, described education as a “knowledge factory” and urged the students to appreciate the evolving role of universities in the 21st century. He emphasized that higher education is designed to generate and transmit knowledge while equipping students with critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to navigate contemporary global challenges.
Professor Ogbogbo noted that the training offered at ADUN has the capacity to shape both the future and character of the students, congratulating them and their parents on attaining what he described as the milestone of becoming “ADUN Luminaries.”
The ceremony also featured a lecture by Professor Okpeh Okpeh (Jnr), who challenged conventional views of university education. He stressed that universities are defined more by their values than by physical infrastructure, highlighting discipline, effective time management, and intellectual flexibility as core requirements for academic and personal success. He further advised parents to allow their wards sufficient independence to enable maturity and full integration into university life.

The event ended on a celebratory note, with parents, guardians, and well-wishers expressing optimism about the academic journey ahead. The Vice-Chancellor reaffirmed the university’s commitment to maintaining a secure, disciplined, and world-class environment conducive to learning and character development.
The 8th Matriculation Ceremony further underscores ADUN’s growing role as a federal university focused on producing disciplined, skilled, and visionary leaders.
