Bayero University Kano Implements Mandatory Student ID Policy Amid Heightened Security

The Students’ Affairs Division of Bayero University, Kano (BUK) has issued an urgent security directive mandating that all students must possess and present a valid university identity card to enter or exit any campus premises.

The notice, issued on January 11, 2026, by the Dean of Students’ Affairs, Prof. Ridwanu Mukhtar Bunza, emphasizes that the measure is a critical component of the university’s enhanced security protocol.

"All students are hereby informed that no student is allowed to come into or go out of the university without a valid Students’ Identity Card," the statement read. Students are strongly urged to carry their identification at all times to ensure seamless movement and to assist security personnel in maintaining a safe campus environment.

The directive follows ongoing efforts by the university administration to strengthen campus safety and streamline access control. Security personnel at all gates have been instructed to enforce the policy strictly. Students who may have lost or damaged their ID cards are advised to visit the Students’ Affairs Division immediately for replacement procedures.

The announcement was disseminated through the Student Union Government (SUG) channels, with Comr. Niass Hamza affirming the student body’s commitment to cooperating with the administration for the safety of all.
