Bayero University Kano Student Union Government Faces Intense Backlash Over Leadership
The Bayero University Kano (BUK) Student Union Government (SUG) is under fire from students and faculty members, who accuse the leadership of inaction and ineffective governance.
Students have expressed frustration over unaddressed issues, including the NELFUND refund, inadequate leadership, and unresponsive union representatives.
"We elected them to serve our interests, but they've done nothing to address our concerns," said Aisha Mohammed, a 300-level student.
The SUG leadership claims to be working diligently to address student concerns, citing ongoing discussions with university management.
However, students demand tangible action, not empty promises. "Patience won't pay out or fix our issues," said Fatima Abdullahi, a 400-level student.
The university administration has acknowledged the concerns, urging the SUG to prioritize student welfare and engagement.
As tensions escalate, several executives have resigned from the SUG presidency, distancing themselves from the ongoing administration.
The SUG faces a critical test of its legitimacy and effectiveness.
