Benue State University has commenced the sale of admission forms for its Joint Universities Preliminary Board (JUPEB) programme for the 2026/2027 academic session.

The Joint Universities Preliminary Board (JUPEB) is a national examination body approved by the Federal Government of Nigeria and established by a consortium of ten partner universities, namely the University of Lagos (UNILAG), University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), University of Benin (UNIBEN), University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), University of Uyo (UNIUYO), University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), and Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB).

The JUPEB programme is a one-year university-based programme designed to provide a standard pathway for students seeking admission into 200 Level through Direct Entry.

Candidates are required to undergo the programme for one year in a JUPEB-approved university, after which JUPEB conducts a common and standard examination in three subjects.

There are 43 subject combinations available for candidates to choose from, depending on their intended courses of study. The combinations cover courses in Arts, Law, Science, Social Sciences, Administration and Management.

Commencement

Sale of application forms commenced on August 15, 2026.

The programme provides candidates with an opportunity to qualify for Direct Entry admission into 200 Level without sitting for UTME/JAMB.

Successful JUPEB candidates can gain Direct Entry admission into 200 Level at Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi (MOAUM), and other JUPEB-affiliated universities.

According to the university, there are 85 JUPEB affiliate universities across Nigeria, comprising federal, state and private universities.

Application Requirements

Applicants are required to possess a minimum of five O’Level credits, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings.

No UTME/JAMB is required for the JUPEB programme.

Benefits of JUPEB

The programme offers the following benefits:

i. It is recognised by Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University and other universities in Nigeria and beyond.

ii. It is approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

iii. No UTME/JAMB is required.

iv. Candidates have access to a wide range of courses available across the following faculties:

  4. Faculty of Communication and Media Studies

  5. Faculty of Education

  6. Faculty of Environmental Sciences

v. Successful candidates can secure Direct Entry (DE) admission into any course offered by Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi, or any other JUPEB-affiliated university.

Method of Application

Applications are available only through the online platform.

Interested candidates are required to visit the Benue State University website at www.bsum.edu.ng and access the Applications section under the University portal.

Applicants should click on “Start Application” under the JUPEB menu, make payment of the ₦15,000 application fee and complete the application process.

After successful payment, applicants should return to www.bsum.edu.ng, access the portal menu, click on “Application” and select “Continue Application” under the JUPEB menu.

Candidates are required to complete and print the application form.

The printed application form should be submitted alongside photocopies of the following credentials to the JUPEB Office, Western Wing:

  1. O’Level Result

  2. Indigene Certificate

  3. Birth/Declaration of Age Certificate

  4. Two recent passport photographs

  5. Payment receipts
