General Admission Requirements

BSUM has set forth the following admission criteria for prospective postgraduate students:

O’ Level Requirements:

• A Credit in English and Mathematics is essential for all courses.
• Psychology applicants should have at least a Pass in Biology or Health Sciences.
• For programmes in English, Languages & Linguistics, Theatre Arts, and Law, a Credit pass in O’ Level Literature is mandatory.
• Management Science courses and Economics require an O’ Level Credit in Economics.
• IMB O’ Level Credit Passes in Mathematics and English can replace SSCE or GCE O’ Level English Credit pass.
• NCE English major is considered equivalent to an O’ Level Literature Credit pass.
• NCE Use of English may substitute for O’ Level English Credit pass.
• ‘A’ Level Passes are regarded higher than O’ Level Passes.

Application Process for BSUM Postgraduate Admission

Step-by-Step Application Guide:

1. Pre-registration: Visit BSUM Postgraduate Portal to fill out preliminary registration details and submit to obtain an Application Number.
2. Payment of Application Fee: Take the pre-registration form to Fidelity Bank and pay the non-refundable application fee of N20,000 using the Application Number.
3. Completion of Application Form: After payment, return to the BSUM Portal, access the Application section, and select Postgraduate to complete the online Application Form. Upload academic credentials and other necessary documents and submit.
4. Reference Forms: Ensure that three referees complete the online reference forms.
5. Final Submission: Applicants must upload relevant documents, as incomplete applications will not be processed.

Important Notice:

• Late application starts 30 days from the date of advertisement and incurs an additional charge of N5,000.00.

• Provide complete and accurate information on the application form.
• Clearly state the intended course of study and any specialization.
• Official transcripts from former universities must be sent directly to the Postgraduate School.
• Only one Degree/Diploma application can be made at a time.
