BOUESTI Approves Promotion of 28 Professors, 58 Staff Members
The governing council of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti (BOUESTI), has approved the promotion of 28 professors and 58 staff members in a bid to motivate high-performing personnel and foster a culture of academic excellence.
In a significant move to retain and motivate high-performing staff, the governing council of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti (BOUESTI), has approved the promotion of 28 professors and 58 staff members across various departments and cadres. This decision was made during a recent statutory meeting, reflecting the university’s commitment to fostering a culture of dedication and academic excellence.
According to a statement from the registrar's office, the approvals followed thorough evaluations conducted by the institution's Appointments and Promotions Committees as part of the 2024 annual staff performance review exercise. Previously, at a meeting on September 17, 2024, the committee had approved the promotion of 22 associate professors to the rank of professor, which was later ratified by the governing council.
Additionally, the council considered and ratified an addendum to the committee's report, approving the promotion of six more associate professors based on positive assessments from external reviewers, raising the total number of newly minted professors at BOUESTI to 28. The newly promoted professors include:
- Joseph Ojo Ekiran (Economics)
- Foyeke Omoboye Ibimilua (Geography and Environmental Management)
- Babatope Andrew Ogundare (Geography and Environmental Management)
- Adeniji Olawale Aladelokun (Geography and Environmental Management)
- Olatunji Samuel Akinwumi (Religious Studies)
- Rotimi Odudele (Religious Studies)
In addition, Dr. Felicia Bosede Kehinde Fasae has been promoted to associate professor, contributing to a total of six new associate professors.
The governing council also confirmed the appointments of 76 staff members until retirement age and granted incremental credits to 816 staff members for their satisfactory performance. Furthermore, the appointments of Oluyede Adeleke Aturamu, a professor of Agricultural Economics, and Joseph Ojo Ekiran, a professor of Economics, as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Research) and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development) respectively, were ratified, following their election by the university's senate on July 25, 2024.
