The Senate of the University of Port Harcourt has approved a special two-year academic amnesty for students admitted into the institution between the 2010/2011 and 2018/2019 academic sessions who were unable to complete their programmes within the approved duration.

The Senate of the University of Port Harcourt has approved a special two-year academic amnesty for students admitted into the institution between the 2010/2011 and 2018/2019 academic sessions who were unable to complete their programmes within the approved duration.

The decision, which provides a structured window for academic recovery, is aimed at allowing affected students to return to the system, regularise their academic status, and complete outstanding requirements for graduation.

Under the arrangement, eligible students are required to formally apply for reinstatement by submitting written requests addressed to the Vice-Chancellor through their respective Heads of Department. Each application will be reviewed in line with departmental and faculty guidelines before approval for reabsorption and continuation of studies.

The amnesty covers students who overstayed their programmes or discontinued studies due to academic, administrative, or personal challenges. The policy is designed to reduce dropout wastage and recover academic investment already made by both students and the institution.

The Senate has set 31st May, 2026, as the deadline for submission of all applications.
