FUNAAB Appoints Professor Michael Takeet as Dean of College of Veterinary Medicine

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has appointed Professor Michael Takeet as the new Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine (COLVET).

The appointment was approved by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Babatunde Kehinde, and takes effect from August 1, 2026. Professor Takeet, a distinguished academic in the Department of Veterinary Parasitology and Entomology, will serve a three-year term ending on July 31, 2029.

Announcing the appointment, the Acting Head of the Directorate of Public Relations, Mr. Olasunkanmi Olajide, said the decision followed the recommendation of the College Board of the College of Veterinary Medicine. He noted that the appointment letter, signed by the Registrar, Dr. Titus Adeniyi, reflected the University's confidence in Professor Takeet's ability to provide sound academic leadership and contribute to the institution's continued growth and development.

According to the University, the appointment recognises Professor Takeet's proven leadership capacity and commitment to academic excellence.

Professor Takeet is a member of several professional organisations, including the World Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology, the American Society of Parasitologists, the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association and the Parasitology and Public Health Society of Nigeria.
