FUTA Appoints Prof. Adeoluwa Pioneer Acting Dean of New School of Science and Technology Education

The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) has established the School of Science and Technology Education (SSTE) and appointed Professor Olufemi Victor Adeoluwa as its pioneer Acting Dean.

The appointment, approved by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji, took effect on August 1, 2026, as the University moves to strengthen its academic structure and expand its frontiers in science and technology education.

Professor Adeoluwa, a renowned scholar in Educational Technology, brings more than three decades of experience in teaching, research and academic administration to the new position.

A native of Ado-Ekiti, he holds degrees in History Education, Educational Technology and Advertising, as well as a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction. He attained the rank of Professor in 2009 and has established himself as a prominent scholar in educational technology in Nigeria.

His scholarly contributions include 75 publications, while he has supervised 20 Ph.D. and 22 Master's degree graduates. He has also served as an external examiner for 12 universities, including the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.

Professor Adeoluwa equally has extensive administrative experience, having served on more than 90 university boards and committees, with 45 of them chaired by him.

His previous administrative positions include Head of Department, Sub-Dean and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development). In September 2015, he served as Acting Vice-Chancellor of Ekiti State University.

He also served as Provost of the College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti, before becoming the pioneer Vice-Chancellor of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology (BOUESTI), Ikere-Ekiti, in January 2021.

With his appointment, the University Management expressed confidence in Professor Adeoluwa's academic, administrative and leadership experience, charging him to provide effective leadership for the newly established School.

Management tasked the Acting Dean with mentoring academic and administrative staff, promoting teamwork and ensuring broad participation in initiatives aimed at advancing the School.

He was also urged to discharge his responsibilities with commitment, diligence and dedication while working closely with the Vice-Chancellor to sustain academic excellence and strengthen collaboration within the School and the wider University community.

As Acting Dean, Professor Adeoluwa automatically becomes a member of the University's Management and is expected to contribute to the peace, harmony and continued development of the institution.

The establishment of the School of Science and Technology Education marks another milestone in FUTA's efforts to expand its academic programmes and strengthen teacher education in science and technology.

With Professor Adeoluwa's extensive experience in scholarship, academic administration and institutional leadership, the University is expected to build a strong foundation for the development and success of the new School.
