Buhari Abdullahi Overcomes Multiple JAMB Rejections to Graduate with First-Class Honors at Sule Lamido University
Buhari Abdullahi, from Dansure, Roni Local Government Area in Jigawa State, has overcome numerous academic setbacks to achieve remarkable success.
Buhari Abdullahi, a native of Dansure in Roni Local Government Area, Jigawa State, has overcome significant challenges on his path to academic excellence, culminating in his graduation with a first-class honors degree. His story is an inspiring narrative of resilience, perseverance, and the relentless pursuit of education, despite facing numerous setbacks along the way.
Buhari’s academic journey began like many others, but it quickly became fraught with hurdles. His first major obstacle was his struggle with the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and the National Examination Council (NECO) exams. After sitting for these exams twice, he still did not achieve the required results to progress to higher education.
Determined not to give up, Buhari then attempted the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) exams three times—first in 2013, then again in 2015 and 2016. Unfortunately, despite his consistent efforts, he could not secure admission to any Nigerian university. The repeated failures weighed heavily on him, yet he refused to let them define his future.
In 2019, Buhari decided to pursue a different route by applying for university admission through Direct Entry (DE) and the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Though he excelled in both exams, with a solid academic background and a diploma that earned him 9 credits and a distinction, he faced another disappointment when his application for Direct Entry was rejected. The rejection was a crushing blow, but Buhari's resolve remained unbroken.
Undeterred, he continued his journey through sheer grit and determination. He re-applied and finally earned admission to university. This time, his hard work paid off—he not only excelled in his coursework but also earned a first-class honors degree. Alongside this, he graduated with a distinction in his diploma program, completing a journey that seemed almost impossible just a few years earlier.
Buhari’s story is a powerful reminder that setbacks do not define a person’s potential. Despite repeated failures, including three JAMB attempts and two WAEC/NECO examinations, Buhari’s story exemplifies the importance of resilience and persistence. His success is not just about the first-class degree he earned, but about his ability to keep moving forward in the face of adversity.
