UNILAG Distinguished Alumni Lecture Links Optimised Electricity to Nigeria’s Socio-Economic Growth

The need to optimise electricity as a means of unlocking Nigeria’s industrial growth took centre stage at the maiden Distinguished Alumni Lecture organised by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Lagos, UNILAG.

The lecture was delivered on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company, NDPHC, Engineer Jennifer Adighije.

She underscored the critical role of electricity in driving Nigeria’s industrial growth, innovation, and competitiveness. Leaders from government, industry, academia, and the university community gathered to deliberate on how reliable power can drive national transformation.

The event marks the beginning of the department’s Distinguished Alumni Lecture series aimed at bringing industry expertise to bear on academic discourse and national development challenges.
