Caleb University, recently named the Best Private University in Nigeria, held its first-ever Vice Chancellor’s Cup, celebrating student achievements in sports, intellect, and leadership. The Department of Computer Science/Cyber Security emerged victorious in the highly competitive inter-departmental tournament.

The event, detailed by Olawale Adekoya, Information, Media, and Publication Specialist, was praised by Prof. Nosa Owens-Ibie, Vice Chancellor, and Prof. Sunday Adewale, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic, for showcasing student talent. Prof. Owens-Ibie emphasized that the students demonstrated remarkable skill, indicating their potential for future success both nationally and globally.

The tournament saw the Computer Science/Cyber Security department excel, amassing 66 points to clinch the overall championship. Political Science and International Relations placed second with 30 points, followed by Accounting with 19 points. Despite their overall win, the Computer Science/Cyber Security football team was narrowly defeated 2-1 by Political Science and International Relations in the final match.

Other highlights included the Staff Novelty Football Match, where the Administrative Staff, led by Prof. Olalekan Asikhia, defeated the Academic Staff, led by Prof. Sunday Adewale, 2-1. The Computer Science department also dominated basketball, track and field events, volleyball, and table tennis, while students competed in board games like Chess, Monopoly, and Scrabble.

Christian Odefadehan, Acting Director of Sports, commended the Sports Committee for organizing a memorable event, highlighting that the Vice Chancellor’s Cup reflects Caleb University's core values of excellence, teamwork, and dedication. The sporting festival provided a platform for nurturing student talent and discovering hidden skills.
