Chrisland University Vice-Chancellor Receives Lifetime Award at OWSD Biennial Conference

The inaugural Biennial Conference of the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) was held at the University of Ibadan, featuring a prominent highlight: the Lifetime Award presentation to Professor Chinedum Peace Babalola, Vice-Chancellor of Chrisland University.
Professor Babalola was honored for her exceptional dedication to academic excellence, transformative leadership, and significant contributions to science and research. Her recognition came as part of a distinguished gathering of scholars, policymakers, and students committed to advancing women’s roles in science.
In addition to receiving the award, Professor Babalola delivered a compelling keynote lecture titled "Breaking Down Disciplinary Barriers: Strategies for Interdisciplinary Collaboration in One Health Challenges." Her address focused on the importance of integrating human, animal, and environmental health to tackle complex global health issues. She highlighted the need for cross-disciplinary efforts to foster innovation, improve public and animal health, and support ecosystem sustainability.
The Lifetime Award ceremony also celebrated other notable figures, including Her Excellency Engr. Tamunominini Makinde, wife of the Executive Governor of Oyo State; Professor Lilian I. Salami, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin and Chairperson of the Committee of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities; and Professor Olanike Adeyemo, Secretary to the Oyo State Government.
The conference marked a significant milestone for OWSD, spotlighting the achievements of women leaders who are pioneering advances in science and research. Professor Babalola’s award not only acknowledged her individual contributions but also underscored the ongoing efforts to elevate women’s impact in the scientific community.
