Dr. Oluseye Reaffirms OGITECH Commitment To 21st Century Polytechnic Education

The 2026 Resource Inspection and Programme Accreditation exercise at the Ogun State Institute of Technology, Igbesa, held from Monday 20th through Wednesday 22nd July, 2026. The exercise concluded on a note of excellence, with the Management reaffirming its commitment to global best practices in technical and vocational education.

In his welcome address, the Rector, Dr. Abiodun Babatunde Oluseye, said this marks the fourth National Board for Technical Education, NBTE, visit to the institute in his barely three years in office. He attributed the frequency of accreditation requests to the Management’s determination “to entrench and consolidate a true polytechnic system, align with global best practices in polytechnic education, raise the bar of quality in TVET, and produce graduates with a problem-solving mindset.”

The Rector presented a total of 18 programmes across three categories for the exercise:

ND Mechatronics Engineering Technology  

ND Crime Management

Dr. Oluseye commended the NBTE under the leadership of the Executive Secretary, Prof. Muhammad Idris Bugaje, for being “a worthy and reliable partner and collaborator, ever ready to offer professional guidance and support,” despite the institute’s “meagre financial base.” He also appreciated the immediate past Director of Polytechnic and Allied Programmes, Engr. Dr. Fatimah Kabir Umar, and the current Director, Engr. Ayo Aroge, for their contributions to the institute’s development.

Reiterating the institute’s vision, the Rector said management remains committed to best practices in running a polytechnic system and advancing technical education in the 21st century.

“We are very open to the Board’s professional advice in all areas. We are confident that the insightful and constructive assessment, evaluation, and feedback from this visit will further spur the drivers of the Polytechnic to raise the quality of education offered to the citizens of our dear country,” he said.

He added that the institution seeks “stronger support and partnership to help this administration accomplish its vision of co-building a technologically powerful nation, starting from Ogun State and Nigeria.”

Dr. Oluseye directed Heads of Departments and all stakeholders to take detailed notes of the team’s observations and report all deliverables to the Management for prompt action.

Speaking at the pre-inspection briefing, the Director of Polytechnics and Allied Programmes Department of the National Board for Technical Education, NBTE, Engr. Ayo Aroge, who led the delegation of accreditation officials to the institute, remarked that they had come to correct, guide and offer helpful insights for running the programmes. He was received by the Rector, Dr. Abiodun Oluseye, alongside the Deputy Rector, Dr. Oluyemi Odutola, principal officers, and other stakeholders of the Institute.

The South West Zonal Director of the NBTE, Dr. John Onyebuchi, who described himself as a co-host with the Rector, and other principal officers of the Institute were present at the event.

The accreditation exercise is expected to further position OGITECH as a hub for skilled manpower and innovation-driven graduates in line with the national TVET objectives.
