Ekiti State University Graduates 91 First-Class Students in 28th Convocation

In the 28th convocation of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, 91 students achieved first-class degrees among a total of 10,894 graduating students.

Ninety-one students of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, have distinguished themselves by attaining first-class degrees in the 28th convocation of the institution. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Edward Olanipekun, revealed this during a press conference on Monday, where he provided insights into the academic achievements of the graduating class.

A total of 10,894 students are set to graduate, with 3,262 achieving second-class upper division, 6,411 obtaining second-class lower division, and 747 earning third-class degrees. Additionally, four students received pass degrees.

Prof. Olanipekun announced that the convocation ceremony would also confer honorary doctorates on distinguished individuals, including Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God; former Governor of Ekiti State, Niyi Adebayo; oil magnate Princess Folorunsho Alakija; and accomplished pharmacist Prince Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi.

Highlighting the university's progress, Prof. Olanipekun noted achievements such as securing approval for 16 new academic programs and signing a memorandum of understanding with the University of the West of England, Bristol, for collaboration in transnational education and academic exchange programs.

Furthermore, he commended the Federal Government's intervention funds, which have facilitated significant transformations on campus, including the completion of several sponsored projects.

Acknowledging the assistance of the EKSU Alumni Association, Prof. Olanipekun expressed pride in the association's contributions, particularly in streamlining the issuance of academic transcripts, which was previously a challenge.
