The University of Ibadan has officially released the approved academic calendar for the 2023/2024 session, detailing key dates and activities for both new and returning undergraduate students.

The academic calendar, approved by the University authorities, outlines the schedule for the first and second semesters, including registration, virtual orientation, lectures, assessments, examinations, and result processing.

For the first semester, online registration for new students is set to commence on Monday, April 1, 2024, followed by a virtual orientation program scheduled for Wednesday, April 3, 2024, to Thursday, April 4, 2024. Virtual lectures will then commence on Monday, April 8, 2024, and run until Friday, May 17, 2024, spanning a period of six weeks.

A virtual matriculation ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, April 23, 2024, marking the official induction of new students into the University community. Following the virtual lectures, there will be a post-virtual lectures break from Monday, May 20, 2024, to Friday, June 7, 2024.

Physical resumption on campus for new students and commencement of online registration for returning students will take place on Monday, June 10, 2024. Subsequently, teaching, revision, and continuous assessment will span eleven weeks, starting from Monday, June 17, 2024, to Friday, August 30, 2024.

The first semester will conclude with General Education Studies (GES) examinations scheduled from Monday, September 2, 2024, to Friday, September 6, 2024. Subsequent examinations for various faculties will be conducted in two-week intervals, culminating in the conclusion of the first semester on Friday, October 4, 2024.

The second semester is slated to commence on Monday, October 21, 2024, with eleven weeks allocated for teaching, revision, and continuous assessment. Processing of first semester examination results and meetings of faculty boards of examiners will follow in November and December 2024.

Senate meetings for the consideration of first semester non-final year results are scheduled for Tuesday, December 17, 2024, to Thursday, December 19, 2024. The second semester will feature similar examination schedules as the first semester, with the academic session concluding on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, after Senate meetings for the consideration of final and non-final year results.

Students are expected to arrive for the commencement of the 2024/2025 academic session on Monday, April 14, 2025. Postgraduate students will resume along with undergraduate students as per the University's academic calendar.

The release of the academic calendar provides students, faculty, and stakeholders with a clear roadmap for the upcoming academic session, ensuring smooth and organized academic activities throughout the year.
