Ekiti State University Inducts Akinsanmi Falaki into Alumni Hall of Fame

The Ekiti State University (EKSU) Alumni Association has honoured Akinsanmi Falaki, a distinguished banker and business leader, with induction into its prestigious Hall of Fame (Platinum Category), recognising his outstanding professional achievements and leadership excellence.

The Ekiti State University (EKSU) Alumni Association has honoured Akinsanmi Falaki, a distinguished banker and business leader, with induction into its prestigious Hall of Fame (Platinum Category), recognising his outstanding professional achievements and leadership excellence.

Falaki, a B.Sc. graduate in Business Management from the then University of Ado-Ekiti (now EKSU) and holder of an MBA in Human Resource Management, has over two decades of accomplishments in Nigeria’s financial services sector. He further enhanced his leadership expertise with a Corporate Governance certification from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, Chicago, USA.

Beginning his career in 2003 as an intern at EIB International Bank, Falaki quickly rose through the ranks, serving in key leadership positions across top Nigerian banks. By 2009, he became Head of Corporate and Commercial Banking at Skye Bank’s Maitama Branch. He subsequently held senior roles including Group Head, Commercial Banking at Union Bank Plc, and Divisional Head, Northern Directorate at Keystone Bank, eventually ascending to Assistant General Manager and DGM/Regional Head, Abuja and North Central.

During the induction ceremony, Ambassador Seyi Idowu, President of the EKSU Alumni Association, described Falaki as “a beacon of excellence and a model of the university’s core values of integrity, innovation, and leadership.” He noted that the Platinum Category recognises alumni whose achievements inspire generations of EKSU graduates. Other inductees included Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State, Senate Leader Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, and Special Adviser to the President, Dr. Tope Fasua.

In his acceptance remarks, Falaki dedicated the honour to “all EKSU graduates making a difference across sectors” and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance the university’s growth, development, and global reputation. He emphasised that the induction underscores EKSU’s legacy of producing visionary leaders shaping industries in Nigeria and beyond.
