EKSU Matriculates Over 9,000 Students, Announces New Programmes
Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti (EKSU) has matriculated over 9,000 students for the 2024/2025 academic session. Vice Chancellor, Professor Joseph Babatola Ayodele, highlighted the competitive admission process and EKSU’s strong reputation for academic excellence.

Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti (EKSU) has officially matriculated over 9,000 newly admitted students for the 2024/2025 academic session across its 91 fully accredited academic programmes. The Vice Chancellor, Professor Joseph Babatola Ayodele, presided over the ceremony and congratulated the matriculants on their successful admission, highlighting the competitive selection process from over 25,000 applicants.
During his address, Professor Ayodele emphasized EKSU's reputation as one of the most sought-after universities in Nigeria, attributing its popularity to high moral standards, academic excellence, and the remarkable achievements of its graduates globally. He also extended special congratulations to the pioneer students admitted into the newly introduced Doctor of Pharmacy programme.
The Vice Chancellor revealed that the institution is set to introduce Dentistry, Mechatronics Engineering, and other new academic programmes for the 2025/2026 session. He advised the fresh students to uphold the matriculation oaths by avoiding misconduct, including membership in unregistered associations, indecent dressing, examination malpractice, drug abuse, and other social vices. He reiterated the university’s zero-tolerance policy for infractions and assured that appropriate sanctions would be enforced on defaulters.
Professor Ayodele expressed gratitude to the Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, an alumnus of the institution, for his support in creating a conducive learning environment. He also commended the Governor’s wife, Dr. (Mrs.) Olayemi Oyebanji, for her voluntary lecturing services in the Department of Educational Management for over two sessions.
In a related development, the Vice Chancellor welcomed the first set of regular students under his leadership during an orientation program organized by the Directorate of Students’ Affairs. He praised their discipline and enthusiasm, noting their impressive turnout at the event.
Furthermore, he announced plans by the university management to enhance students' welfare by constructing additional hostels to accommodate a significant number of students. The initiative aims to improve campus life and foster a more engaging academic environment.
