Ekiti State University (EKSU) in Ado Ekiti has announced plans to introduce a Pharmacy programme starting from the 2024/2025 academic session. The Vice Chancellor, Professor Edward Olanipekun, revealed this development during the matriculation ceremony for the university's regular students for the 2023/2024 academic session.

Professor Olanipekun emphasized EKSU's position as one of the most sought-after universities in Nigeria and assured that the appointment of the pioneer Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy would soon be finalized to initiate the commencement of the programme. Additionally, he urged the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering to expedite efforts to introduce Mechatronics Engineering at the university.

Addressing the new students, the Vice Chancellor advised them to prioritize their studies and avoid affiliations with unregistered associations on campus. He also cautioned existing students against harassing or intimidating new students, emphasizing that any misconduct would result in appropriate disciplinary measures. Professor Olanipekun encouraged students to report any instances of harassment for prompt action.

Furthermore, the Vice Chancellor instructed the Directorate of Works & Services to ensure the installation of solar power systems in strategic locations across the campus to enhance illumination.

The matriculation oath was administered by the university's Registrar, Mr. Ife Oluwole, to a total of 6,738 new students, marking the official commencement of their academic journey at EKSU.
