Emir of Lafia Advocates for Selfless Leadership at FULafia’s Maiden Lecture Series
The Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage Muhammed, JSC (rtd), has called on leaders at all levels to place humanitarian and selfless service at the forefront of their duties, emphasizing it as a key way to improve the lives of citizens.
He made the remarks during the inaugural edition of the Leadership Personality Lecture Series, organized by the Centre for Leadership Studies at the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia).
The event, themed “Effective Leadership and Governance: A Tool for Sustainable Development in the 21st Century,” took place at the Management and Information Systems (MIS) Hall, Permanent Site Campus.
The Emir stressed that Nigeria’s progress depends on the election of visionary, people-oriented leaders who prioritize national development over personal gain.
Chairing the event, FULafia Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, described the lecture as timely, noting its potential to nurture positive, forward-looking leaders. He encouraged the university to continue providing platforms that foster discussions on effective governance.
Delivering the lecture, Prof. Mohammed Sani Haruna, former Director-General of NASENI, attributed Nigeria’s development challenges to a lack of purposeful leadership, highlighting that peace and security remain essential for socio-economic growth.
Dr. Abashi Attah, Acting Director of the Centre, thanked the vice-chancellor for his support and reaffirmed the critical role of effective leadership in achieving sustainable development.
