Enugu State University Offers Automatic Employment to Top Graduates
Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) has extended automatic employment offers to the top three graduating students of the 2021/2022 academic session, according to an announcement made during the university's 19th convocation ceremony. The Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo) also acknowledged ESUT graduates as valuable contributors to the oil industry.
The recipients of the automatic employment offers are Ms. Ikeonyia Barbara Ijeoma, the overall best graduate from the department of Industrial Physics in the Applied Natural Sciences faculty; Mr. Muoananu Ifenna Chinedu, the second-best graduate from the Computer Engineering department in the faculty of Engineering; and Mr. Arum Tobechukwu Franklin, the third-best graduate from the Biology Education department in the Faculty of Education.

Prof Aloysius-Michaels Okolie, the Vice Chancellor of ESUT, announced the employment offers during the convocation ceremony held at the university's main campus in Agbani. The ceremony also recognized and honored the top graduates with awards.
In the 2021/2022 academic session, a total of 11,377 graduates received their certificates, including 9,085 with First Degrees, 465 with Post Graduate Diplomas, 1,177 with Master's Degrees, and 650 who earned their Doctors of Philosophy Degrees (Ph.D.).

The convocation ceremony also featured the awarding of Honorary Degrees (Honoris Causa) to five distinguished individuals, including Mr. Osagie Okunbor, the Country Chair of Shell Companies in Nigeria and Managing Director of the Shell Petroleum Development Company Of Nigeria Limited. Mr. Okunbor was honored with a Doctor of Business Administration (Honoris Causa).
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Okunbor highlighted the long-standing relationship between Shell Companies in Nigeria and ESUT, noting the company's history of supporting education through scholarships and initiatives. He emphasized the significant impact of Shell's scholarship schemes in contributing to the growth of Nigeria's human capacity.

Mr. Okunbor also acknowledged the representation of ESUT graduates within Shell Companies in Nigeria and expressed confidence that the honorary degree would further strengthen the relationship between the company and the university, as well as with the government and people of Enugu State.
