A tragic incident unfolded at Government Model School in Jalingo, Taraba state, where a secondary school teacher was fatally stabbed by his former student, who is now at large. The attack occurred in a tricycle after an earlier altercation between the teacher and the student.

Governor Agbu Kefas expressed condolences and, in response, directed a ban on assault weapons such as knives, machetes, and daggers in Jalingo and its environs. The governor ordered an investigation into the incident and heightened security surveillance to prevent future attacks.

Commissioner for Education, Dr. Augustina Godwin, decried the security challenges faced by staff and students in Jalingo schools. She called for increased security presence, both armed and unarmed, emphasizing the need for agencies like Civil Defence/Peace Corps in schools, particularly around Jalingo.
