The management of Federal University, Dutsinma (FUDMA) has approved the expulsion of one student and the rustication of 51 others over examination misconduct during the first semester of the 2025/2026 academic session.

The decision was reached during the university’s 139th Regular Senate Meeting held on May 5, 2026, under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Mohammed Khalid Othman.

According to a statement issued by the institution’s Director of Information and Protocol, Nasiru Abdul, the disciplinary measures followed recommendations by FUDMA’s Committee on Examination Misconduct after the affected students were found guilty of various examination-related offences.

The university explained that the sanctions were imposed in line with Section 13.3, Sub-section 13.3(c) of its Academic Policy on Examination Irregularity and Academic Misconduct.

Under the penalties approved by the Senate, one student was expelled from the institution, while the remaining 51 students were rusticated for two semesters. The rustication will take effect from the second semester of the 2025/2026 academic session.

The affected students were drawn from several faculties, including Management Sciences, Social Sciences, Physical Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Computing, and the College of Education.

The latest disciplinary action increases the total number of students sanctioned for examination malpractice by the university to 72 in 2026 alone. Earlier in March, the institution had rusticated another batch of 20 students over similar offences.

FUDMA reiterated its commitment to upholding academic integrity and maintaining strict disciplinary standards aimed at protecting the credibility and quality of its academic system.

The university noted that acts capable of undermining academic excellence would continue to attract appropriate sanctions in accordance with its regulations.
