Federal Government Hands Over 24 Housing Units to University of Ilesa in Major Staff Welfare Boost

The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has officially handed over 24 housing units to the University of Ilesa in a landmark event aimed at strengthening staff welfare and supporting the growth of the young institution. The ceremony, held at the University, was attended by the University Management as well as officials from the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja and its Osun State office.

Speaking at the event, the Director of Public Building, QS Pemi S. Temitope, who represented the Honourable Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arch. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, described the occasion as a significant milestone that reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to improving access to decent and affordable housing across the country. He stated that housing remains a fundamental component of national development and social well-being, adding that the Honourable Minister has continued to champion initiatives that ensure Nigerians, including those working in key institutions such as universities, have access to functional and comfortable shelter.

QS Temitope stressed that universities remain centres of knowledge, innovation and national transformation, and for them to effectively deliver on their mandate, staff welfare must be taken seriously. He explained that stability, productivity and institutional growth depend greatly on the welfare of workers, noting that the provision of the 24 housing units to the University of Ilesa was therefore a strategic intervention. He commended the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Taiwo Olufemi Asaolu, Ph.D, FCA, for his visionary leadership and for keying into the initiative, as well as other stakeholders who contributed to the project’s success.

In his response, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Taiwo Olufemi Asaolu, FCA, described the event as historic and expressed gratitude to the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development for the gesture. He assured that the housing facilities, located on University land, would be properly utilized and maintained for the purpose they were provided, describing the development as a major boost to staff welfare and institutional advancement.
