Federal University Lokoja Holds Inaugural Senate Meeting at Newly Completed Senate Building

The Senate of Federal University Lokoja (FUL) convened its 90th meeting and first gathering at the newly completed Senate Building on Thursday, February 27, 2025. This milestone event marked a significant achievement in the university's 14-year history.

 

Vice-Chancellor Professor Olayemi Akinwumi chaired the meeting, expressing his joy and gratitude for the successful completion of the iconic Senate Building. He acknowledged the unwavering support and confidence of Senate members and the University Management in his efforts to attract developmental projects to the institution.

The meeting also addressed recent tragic incidents, including the loss of five students in a trailer accident and the death of an Associate Professor. A moment of silence was observed in honor of the deceased, and the Vice-Chancellor briefed the Senate on measures being taken to prevent similar accidents, including the construction of an alternative road within the Felele Campus.

The Senate commended the Vice-Chancellor and University Management for their proactive response to the situation, including the temporary closure of the university to ensure safety. The meeting concluded with a group photograph at the front of the new Senate Building, documenting the historic event.
