In a significant move to advance agricultural practices and foster innovation, MACFRUT, a globally renowned trade fair in the fruit and vegetable industry, has joined forces with the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB). This collaboration aims to enhance fruit and vegetable production, creating exciting opportunities for both academia and industry stakeholders.

IBAD Limited, a key player in the agricultural sector, facilitated discussions between MACFRUT and FUNAAB. Their goal is to tap into FUNAAB’s expertise in vegetable and fruit production.
FUNAAB boasts an impressive student body of over 22,000 undergraduate students, many of whom are enrolled in agricultural courses. With extensive land holdings and ongoing agricultural ventures—including pawpaw, cashew, and okra plantations—the university is well-positioned to contribute significantly to the agricultural landscape.
While cultivation is essential, FUNAAB recognizes that it’s not enough. To achieve sustainable agricultural practices, value addition and preservation facilities play a crucial role.

Professor Babatunde Kehinde, FUNAAB’s Vice-Chancellor, expressed the university’s eagerness for mutually beneficial partnerships. He emphasized reaching out to collaborators who can enhance their existing efforts.
