The University of Lagos has taken a significant step by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with two prominent French institutions: the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD) and the French Cultural Centre, Allianz Francaise. This collaborative effort aims to strengthen ties between France and Nigeria in the fields of education, research, and cultural exchange.

During the signing ceremony, which took place at the Senate House of the University of Lagos on February 23, 2024, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade T. Ogunsola, welcomed the Consul-General of France to Nigeria, Mr. Laurent Favier, along with a delegation of diplomats and representatives from the French institutions. The gathering emphasized the importance of fostering deeper connections between the two nations.
