Federal University of Education Zaria Notice on Prohibition of Unsolicited Gift Presentations to Lecturers During Lecture Periods
The Federal University of Education Zaria Management has observed with grave dismay a disturbing attitude that has recently surfaced within the University community, whereby students present unsolicited and unexpected gifts to lecturers during lecture periods as a token of appreciation.
While Management appreciates genuine recognition of staff commitment, however, such acts within the academic environment constitute a form of academic corruption, which undermines the principles of fairness, objectivity, and integrity upon which this Institution firmly stands, and is hereby declared unacceptable and intolerable.
In light of the foregoing, the following directives are hereby issued: Under no circumstances shall any student present gifts to lecturers or any other academic staff during lecture periods, examinations, or in connection with any academic activity.
Any lecturer or staff member found to have accepted, solicited, or condoned such practices shall be guilty of academic misconduct and shall be subjected to disciplinary action in line with the University’s Regulations and the Public Service Rules.
Students are cautioned that any attempt to influence or compromise lecturers through gifts or inducements shall attract strict disciplinary measures as provided for in the Student Handbook and Code of Conduct.
Management reaffirms its zero-tolerance stance against corruption in all its forms and will not hesitate to sanction any breach of this directive.
The University community is hereby placed on full notice. All staff and students are strongly enjoined to adhere strictly to this directive in the collective interest of safeguarding the integrity and reputation of the Institution.
