Zaria Education University VC Mandates Institutional Emails, Urges Students to be Global Ambassadors
The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Education, Zaria, Prof. Yahaya Isa Bunkure, has called on students to obtain their institutional email addresses, stressing that it is critical for proper identification and official communication within and outside the university.
He made the call while receiving members of the university’s chapter of the National Association of Kano State Students (NAKSS), who paid him a familiarisation visit at his office on Tuesday, 28th April, 2026.
Prof. Bunkure described the visit as timely, noting that the nascent university is undergoing rapid growth and repositioning itself to compete favourably with older institutions in terms of academic excellence, standards and global ranking.
He said the management is taking deliberate steps to improve students’ welfare and strengthen the university systems.
The Vice-Chancellor also urged students to remain focused on their studies, avoid distractions and conduct themselves as good ambassadors of the university.
Earlier, the President of NAKSS, Comrade Sani Ja’afar, presented by their patron, Prof. Ahmed Salihu Bello, alongside Dr. Ramatu Nuru, said the association was committed to building a strong, student-centred union that would prioritise the welfare of its members.

He added that the union would pursue scholarship opportunities for Kano State indigenes studying in the university.
The Dean of Students’ Affairs, Mal. Abdulkahi Abdulqadir, while giving a vote of thanks, appreciated the Vice-Chancellor for his students-friendly leadership. He also introduced Comrade Abubakar Musa, a senatorial aspirant in the National Association of University Students (NAUS).
Other officials present included the Acting Registrar, Shehu Iya Sa’idu; Acting Bursar, Muhammad Kabir Aliyu; Engr. Aliyu Ango, Acting Director of Works and Services and Dr. Ma’aruf Kano. Also in attendance were Malam Tukur Abdullahi Yanoko, Malam Ibrahim Rogo, Malam Hassan Saleh Usman and Malam Ibrahim Kwalli.
